Michael P. Maxwell, Jr.

Mike received his B.A. degree magna cum laude from St. Meinrad College in 1983, his J.D. degree cum laude from Indiana University School of Law, Indianapolis, in 1986, and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Boston College in 1997. While in law school, Mike was a Note & Development Editor for the Indiana Law Review, a recipient of the American Jurisprudence Award in Family Law, and a recipient of the Callaghan Book Award for academic excellence.

Mike practiced in the areas of civil litigation and public utility law for a number of years at the firm of McHale Cook & Welch. He also practiced as a Deputy Public Defender at the Office of the Indiana State Public Defender. He has served as a full-time faculty member at Marian College, and was Marian’s Vice President for Aca-demic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty for several years.

Mike’s main areas of practice include representing private and government clients regarding employment practices and legal compliance, drafting and negotiating em-ployment and contractor agreements, review and drafting of employee policies, emi-nent domain proceedings, employment and general litigation matters, alcoholic bev-erage matters, and land-use proceedings and issues.
